CMH physicians to be honored in observance of ‘Doctors Day’ March 30

The boards of directors, employees and volunteers of Citizens Memorial Healthcare (CMH) will honor physicians during a Doctors Day celebration on Wednesday, March 30 from 8 - 9 a.m. in the CMH Community Rooms.  

The first Doctors Day observance was March 30, 1933, in Winder, Ga. The idea for the observance came from Eudora Brown Almond, wife of Dr. Cha Almond, and the date was the anniversary of the first use of general anesthetic in surgery. The day was created to pay tribute to physicians and their contribution to society.

Doctor’s Day became an official national holiday in 1990. Citizens Memorial Healthcare continues to honor this tradition and the hard work and dedication of the CMH doctors.
